Lake Elkhorn After Work Walk

We haven't done this one in a while....and this beautiful 80 degree weather is forecast to continue into next week.

Let walk around the lake, about a 2 mile loop, or if it is hot, we will walk a couple of miles in the shady woods on paved trails toward Savage.

Either direction we walk, the starting point to meet up will be the same - at the Lakeview Office Park Parking Lot.

If you're unfamiliar with the area and need more detailed directions please let me know.

Here are the best directions I found:

From 32 West

* Follow Route 32 West toward Columbia to the Broken Land Parkway exit.
* The exit forks; bear RIGHT (heading North).
* Go through the first traffic light on Broken Land.
* Stay in the left lane.
* Take the first left into the Lakeview Office Park. (If you reach the second traffic light, then you have gone too far.)
* Trailhead is all the way to the upper left corner.

If you're coming from Rt. 29 you'll take the Broken Land Parkway exit toward Owen Brown. You'll pass the Stevens Forrest Rd intersection and then two intersections for Cradlerock Way (three lights total). After the third light you'll crest the incline in the road and turn right into the "Lakeview Office" parking lot. Take a left and the trailhead is in the upper left corner.

I am new at this, but have enjoyed the two things I have done so far. The dog park in Laurel was excellent. Chips was so much better with other dogs there that it gave me the courage to try him on a walk. At first, as we gathered for the walk, he was barking at everyone (as were many other dogs). However, once we started walking he was fine. He and I both enjoyed it. Diane Bishop Re: the place--lovely setting, easy to find, easy parking. Nice wide paths.

The venue is a bit too crowded for so many people & dogs.
