For those interested there is a great dog park in Laurel, MD: Leo E. Wilson Community Park & Dr. Bruce Morley Dog Playground. From Columbia travel South on 95, take exit 33A to 198 East toward Laurel. Turn right at Van Dusen Road and a left onto Alan Drive to park. They have 2 enclosures, one for small dogs and one for bigger dogs. There's trees, bushes and benches to sit, 2 water fountains too. Its in a residential area so its safer than the one on Brock Bridge Road (off 198). I went last weekend and there were probably 15 dogs there from tiny chihuahuas to a Great Dane. Guinness had a blast, hope to see you there. http://laureldogpark....

I've been to both and I actually prefer the one on Brock Bridge Rd. and don't think it's any less SAFE. Who's gonna bother a bunch of people with dogs???

I go to the dog park on Brock Bridge Road all the time. I've never had a problem - I feel very safe going by myself. What makes you think you are not safe there?

I dont personally feel safe going by myself there. You have to park so far from the actual dog area and its not in a residential area, so God forbid anything happen to me no one would here my cries for help. Its tucked away in the trees and reminds me of something you would see in a movie (a secluded place thats breeding ground for someone who wants an easy target). I prob. watch too much csi and other crime shows. I dont know I just got an eerie feeling there by myself. But I do like the off leash area itself there. I would love to meet up with a group sometime.

I don't live too far from the one on Brock Bridge and do plan on taking my dog there soon. There is normally a lot of other people there with their dogs. Lake Gude is a good place to walk your dog as well. This is where I normally go.

Ahhh - thanks for clearing that up, Lisa. I totally understand that viewpoint. I'm generally pretty conscious in those kinds of places, too. Oddly enough, I have never felt that way at the Brock Bridge Park (although I probably will now). :)
