I want to get away from giving my dog rawhide and would like to try antlers. I see several sites online that sell them but was wondering if anyone knew any local shops that might sell them as well. Let me know if anyone has used antlers for a dog chew before and how did you like them? Thanks so much! -Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Try Merrick Flossies. Dogs love them & they do a great job of helping to keep their teeth clean!

My dog loves his deer antler. I bought him one months ago and they last a LONG time. I have a large breed dog and he has barely put a scuff in this thing. Anyway, I buy all my raw food, bones and antlers from www.petdynamix.com. Suzanne, the owner, actually meets her customers at the MD State Fairgrounds in Timonium once a month. I gather an order and email her with it, then we coordinate.

Not sure where you live at, but try calling PET BARN in annapolis. They might carry the antlers.

I have bought them at Pet Barn in Annapolis and Dogma in Baltimore. My dog who is small but an aggressive chewer loves them! They are pricey but last a long time!

Pet Barn is great! They also have a great supply of treats/raw frozen as well. Lots of goodies for your pup. I make a trip there often

Thanks for your suggestion on the deer antler! I got one at 2 Paws Up in Frederick, and my mini dachshund loves it! Believe it or not, he's put a dent in one end of it already and I only gave it to him yesterday! At least there's some left, unlike the other bones I buy.

Those of you that are using the deer antlers, be careful. My doxie loved his so much that he chewed a good bit of it, and got a rather pointed edge on one side. It stabbed him in the gums and he was crying out quite badly. Took me a while to figure out what it was. It's an easy fix, just file off the rough edge. Just wanted to alert anyone who has an aggressive chewer. Enjoy pups!

Lisa...2 more places to check out. There is a Pet Barn in Burtonsville on Route 29 and 198. I believe they are still there - haven't been there in awhile. Also..there is a store called Highland Seed and Feed on Route 216 and 108. They have a variety of treats. Also...I buy bully sticks for my dogs from this website. They may have deer antlers too. Try www.bestbullysticks.com.
